1968 – Another incredible recently discovered photo of the 1968 NET Speed Cup, held at Fuji Speedway! Coming in at a very lengthy 90 laps, this was quite a hefty event to participate in, hence why the 3 giants (Toyota, Nissan and Taki Racing Team) clashed here! In this photo we see the #27 Lola T70 MKIII as driven by Masahiro Hasemi, he would qualify for 2nd place behind teammate Tadashi Sakai with a time of 1:55.38. He would turn out as the race winner! Following close behind we have Hiroshi Fushida in his signature white Toyota 7 (415S), who qualified just behind Hasemi with a time of 1:55.38, putting him 3rd on the grid; the fastest of all Toyota’s. Unfortunately during the race Fushida lost a few positions, and ended up in 5th place overall, 3 laps down of the top 4. Tom wrote an excellent post on this race back on February 19th, go check it out!. Photo and info from Historic Japanese Racing Cars
